A Hint of Fall

Low pressure to our northeast and southeast have brought in some drier air on a nice breeze.  Perhaps the steam bath of our subtropical summer is nearing its end. I have often been told that my inactivity should come to an end with the advent of cooler weather.  But of course that does not work, I don't get any more done in the cooler weather than I do in the summer.  It's more pleasant to work in cooler conditions, but my legs get just as sore in the winter as they do in the summer and my exhaustion kicks in at about the same place year-round.  Sick is sick, the weather cannot change that. I do different things in the winter, the grass stops growing.  That frees me up to do other maintenance work like running debris through the chipper and bringing down dead trees.  Clearing exotics is a lot more fun than pacing back and forth across the lawn.  And in the winter I can grow things like kale and bell peppers. But in the end it always comes back to choices.  When I get up in the morning, there is only so much I can do in a day.  I can mow the lawn, for example, or I can clean out the gutters.  But I can't do both.  If I do, I don't sleep, and it may take a few days or longer to get back to my chores, because the overexertion made me sick. In that same vein, if I work at something to earn money, I can't mow.  I would have to hire someone to do it.  So if I work for fifteen hours a week, I may make 400 dollars a month.  But then I would have to hire someone to maintain the property and someone to clean the house, and someone to repair things around the house, etc. So for my sixty hours of work, I may only clear a hundred dollars.  That's only $1.67 an hour.  That assumes that nothing else goes wrong for me that would cost even more money.  Oh, yes, I forgot vehicle expense.  I think I'm down to less than a dollar an hour.  So with all the misery of working while I'm sick; all the added headaches, body aches, nausea, etc., I get maybe fifty dollars a month.  Tell me again why I would be doing this? Oh, I forgot.  If I work, there would be no gardening.  There goes that fifty bucks and more, in the produce aisle.  So it would cost me money to work.

Well, my advice would be to stay home, do your work that you do at home, gardening, mowing and the rest. Going out to earn money is just going to be too stressful, and not going to get you anywhere, except maybe feeling worse. That\'s my take on it.
I know my mother used to say, I would feel better if I went out... if I did this or that, she meant well, but she did not understand. Sometimes I would go out to please her... make her feel happy for me. But then I suffered for the rest of the week. No we are still the same whether it is hot or cold, wet or dry it does not make alot of difference does it.
I dont think you have a fire place, or the need for one? Just thinking of all that wood you chop down... send it down to me....
You sound very busy, I have become a slob since Peter passed away, it exhausts me to do alot of housework, so not much gets done... and who cares if there is abit more dust around, I\'ll get to it sometime, it will wait for me. I just do what I can.
