A Hard Start To The New Year

I'm having a hard time.  The pain med my doctor gave me - Tramacet - doesn't work at all.  On Monday I had a head and neck ache that lasted ALL DAY.  I vomited and still felt nauseous so I had to take Gravol.  The Gravol caused me to sleep practically all day.  Though I was much improved on Tuesday, I had to cancel my appointment with a new pain specialist due to the extreme cold.  This was very discouraging because I was really hoping to get help from him.
I really need help soon.  My mom is having a harder and harder time with the pain in her back and hands and will need to depend on me much more.  She will be having a surgery on her left hand on January 22 and will not have the use of it for 2 weeks.  We will need to have arranged for Meals on Wheels well in advance of her surgery, and I will have to be able to help with laundry, dishes, and doing errands.
I guess the one positive note I can add is that I managed to do 25 minutes of pedalling on my leg bike today.  I'm trying to get back into it so that I can get stronger, or at least prevent myself from becoming weak.  I really need to cut down on my Coca Cola consumption though.  Sometimes though, it really does give me the boost I need to do the dishes or help with groceries.
