A hard pill to swallow

No, I'm not talking about any of my medications.  I mean the California state budget: higher sales taxes and vehicle license fees for all!  The federal government is trying to bail us out of the recession, and the state just drilled a couple more holes in our boat.  Oh, well (since I'm a silver-lining-type person), at least a 12-cent gasoline tax is NOT part of the deal, and people who are due refunds on their state tax returns will actually receive a check instead of an IOU.     I'm not normally one who stresses about stuff I can't control, but I am worried about the economy.  My husband has a good job, but his main client just cut its budget 30%.  The client PMs like my husband, but there's always a chance that there won't be enough work, and we really depend on his health insurance.     I try to stay positive because my husband tends to see the dark cloud.  I remind him--and myself--that we're really blessed: our kids are great, we have a home, our monthly mortgage payment is reasonable (and fixed), we have some savings not in a 401(k), and my RA seems to be stable.
