A-ha Moments

A-ha moments... sometimes they hit me smack in the forehead, sometimes they come at me hard from behind, and sometimes I've been carrying them but don't realize it until I drop them on my toe.

A therapist long ago told me to quit journaling. She saw it for what it was at the time. I used it as a blanket to hide underneath. It was a barrier to my fully expressing and connecting with my feelings. Speaking aloud is important; it makes things real on a whole different level. As well, even more than when I am writing, I seem to have a-ha moments when I talk about my issues. I don't seem to be able to process inside my head. It is as if my thoughts are a tangle of wet noodles; I don't really know what my Higher Self has to say until the noodles are strung out one by one in front of me.

I stopped jpurnaling a long time ago. I just started again. I had come to realize what I gained by taking a break from it. Noe, suddenly, I am realizing one of the benefits I concurrently sacrificed... a record of some of my A-ha Moments. My memory is poor. I am looking forward to having reminders again of what I have learned. I hope that I might make good use of them while maintaining a commitment to vocally process and be present to my emotions as well.
