A Great Day of Climbing

I had a wonderful day of climbing today with my friend Shannon.  She has been learning to lead climb and I've been mentoring her when I can.  She is so sure of herself and has a great "lead head."
I felt really good all day, despite the fact that I woke up this morning with a 2nd day of swollen eyes, itchy face and itchy mouth.  The oral allergy syndrome continues after eating carrots and tofu.  I do think it's the carrots, but just in case I will avoid both for now.  I took some OTC allergy pills last night, which did NOT help at all.  This morning I went back to the Chinese herb called Pe Min Kan Wan and it worked wonders.  The eyes are almost back down to normal with very little swelling and the itching is very minor.
My digestion has been good the last 3 days now that I'm back on the IBS diet.  I am very thankful! The joint pain is not a problem today, although I do feel a lot of muscle pain at the end of the day after climbing.  It used to be that I'd get just a little delayed onset muscle soreness after about 48 hours, but these days I get muscle and joint pain right away (guess that's the Fibro talking!).
Overall it was what I'd call an EXCELLENT day!!

So happy that you had such an awesome day. It is very inspiring to read your outdoor activities as I believe that it is vital to get out and enjoy the sun. I am sorry about your allergies and really do feel your pain!! LOL I say that as I sit here and suck on a Hall\'s cough drop. I don\'t want to fall asleep and end up choking so I am reading and waiting to be done so I can go to sleep. I can\'t believe that carrots give you allergies. I always thought that the allergies in my mouth were from the environment or something. I figured if my eyes could itch then so could my mouth. LOL Now that I write that, I am feeling my IQ dropping. heehee

I was really shocked about the carrot allergy too! I had never been allergic to our little orange friends before and enjoyed them all my life. Then about a couple of years ago I noticed that when I\'d eat them raw, I\'d get an itchy throat and eyes. Plus I\'d start to sneeze! It was more annoying than anything when it first started and I\'d still enjoy a small baggy of raw baby carrots every day. But I started to wonder if it was getting worse when I had some fresh carrot juice at a juice bar last year. My throat started to feel tight and itchy and my vocal chords were affected in a way that made my voice sound funny. It was SO weird and a bit scary too! After that, I would only eat them if they were cooked because I read that cooking would eliminate the allergen. Well obviously that theory is out the window with the latest episode of swollen eyes and itchy face. Sheesh!

Anyway, I think my body is rebelling the past couple of years, so it\'s not surprising really. I\'ll just keep truckin\' and hope for the best!
