A Good Weekend
Our daughter came home this weekend b/c we had tickets to a concert. She hasn't been home since school started and I really thought she would cancel at the last minute, just from past experiences.
But she seemed genuinely happy to be home and although she still had homework we were able to squeak in some 'us' time.
She's looking forward to the Holidays at home and if she goes to her bf for actual Thanksgiving we think she will come home the next day. That weekend is when we traditionally put the tree up. I told her she could ask her boyfriend to Christmas Eve at my Mom's so we'll see.
She seems to be out of that 'obsessive' stage of a new boyfriend and is more willing to text and msg. When she told us about her schedule, getting out of class at 3 and doing homework until 8, I realized she is a busy girl and not just ignoring us on purpose. She's at school for a reason and she is fulfilling that purpose. It made me feel better to think of it that way.
It was sad taking her back and awful quiet when we got home but I feel better than I thought I would. I can honestly say I'm looking forward to the Holidays now.

I know exactly how you feel about taking it personally when they don\'t text, email or call. I have felt the same way many times. But then just the other day I just kept saying over and over to myself not to take it personally, they are busy! and I was right, that same day both my daughters texted me without me texting first! Exactly how I feel too. Both girls have already been home once. They do text me once in a while.. its better now than at the beginning. Glad you got a chance to have some time with her. hugs!
