A Good Therapy Session Today.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 – 4:05 P.M. I saw my psychologist this afternoon. Everything went well. We talked about my severe scoliosis, and the possibility that I may need continued physical therapy for a longer period than my insurance will approve. My psychologist said she felt that the continuing pain I am having is causing some of my depression, and that if I have trouble with the insurance company, she would be willing to notify it of that.   My sister has offered to pay for the therapy if the insurance will not. My psychologist said I should ask my sister what she expects in return, and if she says nothing, then I should accept her offer.   We also talked about my physical therapist’s idea of having me use the pool at the clinic for additional therapy. My psychologist thought it was a good idea, and if everything is approved at the clinic, I should at least give it a fair try. I plan on talking with my therapist about it when I go in for more therapy tomorrow morning.   She wanted to know how things stood as far as my getting a service dog. I said there were some complications, and I decided to “put it on the back burner” until more important things in my life were dealt with.   We also talked about my back pain in more detail. It could be making my depression worse, and vise-versa. She suggested I try some deep breathing exercises to help with my anxiety that goes along with this.   She wanted to know if I had done anything about her suggestion that I get back into writing. I told her that some of my friends on DS had made similar suggestions, and that I was giving it serious consideration.   I felt much better after leaving my session today. I am seeing her again next Wednesday.   Quotes for Success:   “Success is often the result of taking a misstep in the right direction.”   Al Bernstein

I\'m glad you have her. She sounds great. I love her advice about your sister.

Have you ever tried deep breathing before? I\'ve been working on it for a long time now. It really does help. It\'s not a cure and it doesn\'t immediately help but it\'s something that is very easy to do and you can take it anywhere.

I know writing is painful for you Jim so I want to assure you that I am here for you. After the next chapter in your story bubbles to the surface please feel free to reach out to me. I know it\'s hard after.

The only time deep breathing helps is when I am anxious or in the midst of having a panic attack.

At this time, I\'m not sure when, or if, there will be another chapter in my story. If I do write it, I may not be here for a few days.
