A girl at my gym :)
Something really touching happened in the gym this week, it has been one of the most charming little stories I have ever seen in a long time! I go to a gym, full of "meat heads" A lot of them use steroids (not me, I swear! lol) and its kinda run down and old, its not a place where you go to find chicks. Anyway, there has been a couple of girls that have been going there for a couple of years, one of them is, well, was, really overweight. I know she copped a bit of ridicule from the boys, not to her face, but behind her back, sarcastic comments like "man, she is mine! how hot is she!"
I very much took offence to those kind of comments, but didn't kick up a fuss, I simply didn't acknowledge them. Well, over the past couple of years, this girl has lost a lot of weight, she still is heavier than most girls, and not someome you would dream of picking up in a bar, but, one of my friends in the gym has taken a real interest in her, he started talking to her, eventually asked for her number, and now they are dating. This guy is a good looking guy who has his life in order, he is really smart, and we have grown to share many conversations which I really enjoy. He tells me all kinds of things about this girl, how she can speak fluent italian, to how smart she is, all the things she does, and he genuinely speaks of her with pride to be her boyfriend. Probably the most heartwarming part of this situation is the fact that, this guy is "one of the boys" and he likes to play up and go to strip clubs etc. I asked him, "I guess the strip club days are over now?", and to my suprise he replied, "yeah, I guess your right" Many other guys would have been to "manly" and said "oh no, I'm not giving up any of that, I'm a man!!!! blah blah blah"
It made me so happy to see the trials and tribulations that this girl must have overcome to lose so much weight, day in, day out, training hard, working her arse off to make changes, and now she has a wonderful guy who thinks the world of her.
This world aint such a bad place sometimes! :)
