A gift from my wife today
Many say that the grief process will make me a person with more compassion. I wasn't quite sure how before. Yesterday came with the news a Germanwings flight crashing that caused more than 150 lives. When this type of tragedies happened in the past, I watched the news and felt bad for the people on board and relatives, and then went on my day. But not this time, I glued to the TV screen and searched any possible scenarios that could happen to the flight and passengers. I prayed for them. I wouldn't cry in the past, but when I looked the faces of these relatives in CNN photos, there are tears in my eyes and I really just want to hug them

Dira is right--You just become so sensitive to human suffering and pain after your spouse and loved ones pass. This morning I took a walk in the woods. With a slight dizziness still with me, I seemed to hear a whispering: enjoying this-- the trees, the spring freshness, the chirping birds, and enjoying them NOW. I started weeping uncontrollably when I realized this is a message, maybe a gift, from my wife. Enjoy your life, you may not have it tomorrow. I never had so much tear since the day after the funeral---maybe that is what is supposed to be: you cry most when you receive a gift from your loved one.

Interesting that you should mention the plane crash. I, too, felt differently about it than those crashes prior to my husband\'s death. I knew some of what those survivors were facing and it made me feel close to them.
The thing I couldn\'t stop thinking about was the almost incomprehensible cause of the crash, the co-pilot. Maybe that is why people are so interested in abnormal people, mass murderers for example, because it reassures us that we are normal.
I also noticed the birds celebrating the return of Spring making a racket at dawn. these kind of things tell us the cycle of life continues, the world is still turning.
Beautiful gift of compassion. This journey of grief can be used in a wonderful way...Tiger...May I ask...Who is Dira?
Love peace and precious moments of joy to you...Sandra
