A Friendship Lost

Because my friend hadn't been texting me back, I sent her a text, giving her the choice of ending our friendship or trying again. I told her I love her like she was my sister and I explained that what she was asking me to do was uncomfortable for me because it's against my standard and what I believe in. After working for half an hour, trying to get the text write and making my love clear to her, she answered back in under 5 minutes. She said she didn't want to be friends with someone who doesn't treat her with "basic human respect". "EVERYONE" (with the capital letters) did what she asked her to do and she told me I'm not educated. Then she ended with "Goodbye. -Nico (Someone you knew by a different name)

Even though what she said hurt me, I replied the nicest way I could. Then, a seven year long friendship, my best friendship ever, ended. It hurt. I REALLY hurt. The next day, I broke down when my sister hugged me. What made it worse was when my mom said "You knew she might not be nice." She said that so halfhazardly.

Everyone is saying how proud they are of how I stuck through this trial. I still have moments where I want to cry but can't. What's helping me move on is writing poems or songs about what happened. Here is one of them. It is a parody to Chameleon Circuit's song Mr. Pond:

It's not the things you said to me

When you revealed your plans to me.

'Cause even though your words hurt me

I gave you love and honesty.

I know you went through some hard times

And some people fed you these lies.

But, though your words hurt me

It's them not you whom I despise.

You have no idea just how bad it felt

When you threw me away.

But, I wanna live the way I choose

And I can't like saying

That I'm fond of the ways that you chose;

It's me you disposed.

Now that you've said your mind

Why don't you say goodbye?

But I wanna live the way I choose

And nothing you do will break my truce

With my Lord and King

Whose name I sing.

Why can't you see?

I never noticed it before

But you never took care in me.

You may have faked it just a bit

To trick me in my fantasy.

Well, I guess it's meant to be

And I know you have agency.

But, so do I, and that is why

I must leave you be.

You have no idea just how hard it hurt

To lose my one best friend.

But, I wanna live the way I choose

And I can't like saying

That I'm fond of the ways that you chose;

It's me you disposed.

Now that you've said your mind

Why don't you say goodbye?

But I wanna live the way I choose

And nothing you do will break my truce

With my Lord and King

Whose name I sing.

Why can't you see

His name sets you free?

If you keep living in the world

You will never leave.

But I wanna live the way I choose

And I can't like saying

That I'm fond of the ways that you chose;

It's me you disposed.

Now that you've said your mind

Why don't you say goodbye?

But I wanna live that way i choose

And nothing you do will break my truce

With my Lord and King

Whose name I sing.

I have others but they aren't that good. This one really emulates what I'm feeling. I hope you enjoyed it.
