A first step for me

Writing  a journal that others can read is a very big step for me!   I've had PD for over 11 yrs. and still find it difficult to share my struggles when people ask how I'm doing.  My husband certainly has heard an ear full and I realize that I need to have a support group and give my husband a break. I have a nursing  background so I have the desire to help others by being more open about the progress of this disease that's gradually taking over my body. The neurologist says that my PD has progressed very slowly but within the last couple of years I've become more dependent especially during downtimes.  I sometimes need help with toileting and dressing and anything that requires fine motor skills.   When I'm having a good day, I tend to over do and therefore suffer the following few days. I seem to have a mental block about taking my medication on time even though I have alarm reminders on our cell phone and wristwatch The alarm goes off and if I'm focused on a task oar socializing , the alarm just doesn't register.  I must be in denial! My PD medication are Sinemet SR, Mirapex and Zopliclone. My husband and I made a huge decision 3 1/2 years ago and become full-time RVers.  Doug was able to take an early retirement so quit my part time nursing position and after much prayer, soul searching an input from family and friends, we sold our home and moved into our 27 ft. 5th wheel RV.  We drastically downsized, keeping only what fit in the 5th wheel and a small storage area.  I can go to our three daughter homes and sit on our couch, sleep in our bed or sit at our dining table.  We don't miss our belongs and actually find our lifestyle very freeing! We joined a christian volunteer organization called S.O.W.E.R.S.  and now travel with a purpose to help others.  I have been able to the volunteer but it has become increasingly difficult and I just recently made the decision not to work.  This will be a huge adjustment in my lifestyle.  We are planning to continue with only Doug volunteering and we don't want to change our RV lifestyle.  In fact,  we are in the process of buying a larger unit with a floor plan that will better adapt to my disabilities.Got to go ....  will add more later
