A Few Calm Minutes!
Well, I'm back from vacation & have wrapped up just about all of that post-vacation catching up.
Had an excellent time camping--no rain for 90% of it; just a little the last evening. The kids did plenty of fun things: swimming, banana bike riding, fishing. One day we had a nice hike in a new nature preserve along the Hudson River. The dog *loved* it! (Actually, he loved the whole camping experience.) We had a nice semi-isolated cabin (away from other dogs, but close enough to everything else) with a large lot. And of course the food was great (yay, me!).
The only downer was that the day we left, I got in the mail notices that my bonus check could not be deposited/cashed & the checks I wrote against it (mortgage, car registration) bounced. Ooo, I was steaming on the way up! But then I decided: I'll email the payroll & HR heads so they can work on the issue while I'm out & hopefully I could get it cleared up by the time I got back. After all, I had no access to my account (this was the umbrella account I set up in my name) or the mortgage info.
So I did email them once I calmed down (good thing, because I was sooo much more rational than I was initially feeling!). They did determine it was a problem on their end & re-issued the check. When I came back, I stopped payment on the checks so they could stop bouncing! And I've re-paid the bills (making sure the funds were available first). Best part is that work will be reimbursing me for the fees I've incurred from the bank. I'm still not crazy that this happened in the first place, because it does affect my credit. But there's no use in getting worked up about it.
Now I'm focusing on getting back into my routine, getting the kids to clean out their old clothes & see what they'll be needing for school.
One thing that's happening lately is that my DH wants to leave our church & go to a new one (we have many friends at the new one & it is a good church). I don't disagree with any of his reasons, but something is holding me back & I don't know what it is. So I'm thinking: I really need a sign as to which way to turn.
On a physical health note, I chipped one of my lower molars (next to a filling) this past weekend. I have a feeling that it had a hairline crack in it & finally it chipped off. It does not hurt at all; it just feels weird on my tongue & a little sharp. So I made an appointment for my dentist to look at it & see what, if anything, needs to be done. I'm hoping it's minor.
