A Dysfunctional Family Christmas...
I got a call from my sister last night. She is upset with our mom. It seems to be a result of many things, but the bottom line is that my sister is hurt by mom's lack of connection with her anymore & she feels that this is deliberate on Mom's part (which it may be, who knows). Anyhow, she is seriously considering uninviting her to Christmas Eve (which is when our family gets together & does Xmas).
I should note that this year, Mom does not want to give or receive any gifts, partly I think because of her impending move. So her only motive to come out will be 1-to eat Christmas Eve dinner (free food, so that's likely), and 2-to spend time with the family (which, the way Mom's always been, is not likely).
If she does dis-invite her, it'll be tonight (12/13). What Mom's reaction will be depends on the roll of the dice. She could rebel (she & my sister have been like oil & water lately), play the martyr (she will be having Xmas dinner @ my aunt's, so this is a good place for her to do so, but my aunt has her number), triangulate (which I dread), or whatever. But I've decided that this is all between my sister & my mother. I'll listen, empathize where needed, but I'm not involved!
I guess we'll see what happens.
