A dream within a dream
Has anyone else here read "A Dream within a Dream" by Edgar Allen Poe and thought that he too, must have some sort of sleep disorder?
There is so much heart break in the poem, where a man tries to explain ferverntely to others that what he dreams is as real to him as reality. My narcolepsy has led me to have vivid, lucid dreams every night since I was 5.
Because it all felt so real, and because it was all so beautiful I took my sleep paralisys and hallucinations as a form of payment. Now that I am in my 20s it is as hard to hold on to my dreams as to let them go. I fear taking medication because I don't want it to strip me of my other life.

I too have lucid dreams and they seem all so real...I want to stay in there but then reality strikes and it all falls apart...it's weird sensation...I can fall asleep but can't stay asleep...No meds for me either...i can relate to that.
There have been dreams where I meet people I love so much that I try to make a pact to stay there.
One time a boy from there asked "If you make this promise, you won't be able to go back" I started crying and saying that I didn't care.
It took me a week to get over that. And there was no way to explain it to anyone around me.
