A different approach
Yesterday I decided to try a different approach. At first I tried the "I'll change" and I reallly did which has felt wonderful. I let go of all the anger and resentment built up over the years and it was good for me. Then, on the advice of my counselor, I tried the "tough love" approach. By telling him my life would go on without him and telling him I'm filing for divorce I hoped to send him a "wake up" call. Now, in a last ditch effort, I'm trying a different approach. After 7 weeks of keeping him away because it was just too painful to see him, I told him I thought he should come "visit" every now and then. This will give him a chance to see the kids (even though they don't want to see or talk to him) and give us a chance to have an easy conversation without stress or guilt. I plan on just taking it slow and let him set the pace. What I'm hoping to achieve is that he'll see it wasn't so bad at home and that he can come here and find the happiness he's looking for. I'm hoping that eventually he'll actually look forward to the times he spends with us here and eventually he'll want to come home for good. I know this will be a slow and possibly painful process because right now I know he won't be coming here because he misses me, but he misses the kids. I'm hoping that will change. Wish me luck.
