A Day In The Life

I wanted to thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers . I am feeling much better (as far as the covid crap)  I have very little trouble as far as breathing and very few coughing  spells.   That being said.... apparently all was too easy for me to simply stay put and feel better.

On another trip to the potty, I noticed a wet spot after my sock got wet. Looking up and around, there was nothing from above (was a clear day so I did not believe it could be a final catastophe from my yet to be finished roof) I walk a bit further to discover my entire floor (rug) to be saturated in my spare room.  The water heater is buried in the closet so I had to root things out . My BIL did tell me to turn off the power to the water heater. That I did get to right away in the fuse box. I turned a lever by the pipe on the heater, but when I turned main wated back on it was leaking again.

So here I sit, just me and my covid germs, for another week with noone to come near me or my wet and crumbling home.  I have a large fan on and the heat turned up to help dry things.  My BIL has offered to drop off a wet vac if I cannot find my attachments to my steamer to try to get some water out in the meantime.

I am ashamed to say I went from feeling thankful for a very slight case of covid (thus far anyway) to going back to the old overwhelmed victim with everything going wrong. Many have always told me I am brave and have faced alot, but truthfully, the more things get thrown at me, the more I hate having to face it all over and over... alone.

I spent the better part of the morning with everyone from the CDC to local officials to the covid hotline to find out of my safety if stuck here for another week with no water and having difficulty removing it quickly and safely. My home owners insurance woman was very kind and helpful as they all knew I was very concerned and having more issues with symptoms with that moisture in the house. I tried 2 companies to replace but as I thought they can't come til after the 11 th. The woman from CDC took down all my problems and put in for PA . gov asst to try to help me set things up. for emergency, but I was fortunate that wheels fell into place.

There is a company that works with State Farm .He dropped off a huge dehumidifier that I have set up along with a fan overnight. 4 of them will come in tomorrow morning and sterilize their way inside and barricade that part of the house. They will rip up the wet floor and padding and dry out subfloor. As well as make it sterile and safe for them to come in and replace the water heater. I will stay in the other part of the house

I could not get much moved or taken out with shop vac as It started me to coughing . I was told to take it easy and not worry he would deal with it for me tomorrow.

I am going to attempt to freshen up at the sink, cannot do the dishes as I do not have enough water to attempt it. this is so embarassing and frustrating ... but not much I can do.

Just rest & relax, leave it up to them. Just keep your clothes on when they come, lol! Gentle hugs...Brooke

Take care of yourself, rest and let them take care of everything else.

Sorry this is happening but it sounds like they're taking care of things, slowly. I don't want to presume anything but can you order on line a few cases of water and paper plates, stuff like that can be delivered, so you can limit how much you use your dishes.

take care of yourself!

I have very good neighbors that would gladly pick up something for me. I am thinking I will need to ask for someone to get me more water and a few other things.

hope you can drive out to the bank drive thru ATM to get enough cash to get by.....it is ok because you would not be in the midst of anyone unless you had an accident then you got a problem other than the needing money.....
