A child Loaned
SOMEONE GAVE THIS TO ME AT THE FUNERAL OF MY DAUGHTER TRACY... I THOUGHT I WOULD PASS IT ON AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL HELP SOMEBODY AS MUCH AS IT HELPED ME.. LATER BETS A CHILD LOANED "I'll lend you for a little timeA child of Mine," He said,"For you to love the while he lives,And mourn for when he's dead.It may be six or seven yearsOr twenty-two or three,But will you, till I call him back,Take care of him for Me?He'll bring his charms to gladden you,And should his stay be brief,You'll have his lovely memoriesAs solace for your grief." I cannot promise he will stay,Since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down thereI want this child to learn.I've looked this wide world over,In my search for teachers true. And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,I have selected you.Now will you give him all your love,Not think the labor vain,Nor hate Me when I come to callAnd take him back again?" I fancied that I heard them say,"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,For all the joy Thy child shall bring,The risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness,We'll love him while we may,And for the happiness we've known,Forever grateful stay. But should the angels call for him,Much sooner than we planned,We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,And try to understand." ~ Author Unknown ~

I was told from somebody before Ryan died, that he isn\'t my child, we are all Gods Children, I did not understand it until now.... So true, nice Poem!! Thanks for sharing it... KLS
The poem is very nice. I haven\'t reached that point of understanding. I still feel that Nick was mine and I\'ve been cheated by his death. And I am mad at God for taking him without me. I don\'t begrudge the new life that he has found in heaven because I know he is free of pain and the trials of life. However, I am left here and I miss him so much that I can\'t bear to think that he was never mine to keep. I will remember your poem in hopes that one day this does make sense to me.
So very touching. I know at my son\'s funeral I wrote a brief note to be read. I said I knew he was only loaned to me until he was needed back with his father in heaven. So very ironic you would post such a similar message. I\'m happy to have your friendship. Love Robin
I know that it really helped me and my hope would be that it would help others... it is beautiful and really made me think
Thank you for sharing that poem. Mixed feelings for it but have passed it on to someone dear to me.
