A cheese sandwich and not counting
I'll explain the title. Basically when i was first at the hospital about 3-3 1/2 years ago they tried to persuade me to eat a cheese sandwich and ever since i have had this major thing about them thinking they were the worst thing ever, even though i could eat cheese in other meals and bread with other things, a cheese sandwich was the most repulsive thing, even the thought of one would make me wanna throw up, it was completely irrational but a fear none the less. Slowly through recovery i hav tackled all my fear foods and the final thing i felt i had to do was eat a cheese sandwich. And i did. I really do feel done with ED, sometimes i find myself realising that i am thinking of nothing and i wonder what i should think about, for so long all i have thought of was ED stuff that now i have a huge whole where those thoughts used to be, its weird but i like it and i am sure i will find something much better than ed to think about. And the not counting bit of the title, well i am managing to not count calories most days now, and if i do count it is only at the end of the day and so has no impact on my intakes. its so nice to trust my body, feed it when it tells me its hungry, stop when it tells me i am full, eat the things it craves cuz they are the things it needs. Its freeing, i think i am coming to the end of a recovery journey, i feel like i am me again, and i do like me, i think the rest of the journey is the one that will last for life, and that journey is keeping myself healthy and in a good place and being aware of ED so that it cant take my life from me again.... (i dont know if this makes much sense but it does to me)

i totally understand the cheese sandwich thing...i totally cannot look at fruit juice because of having to drink so much in the hospital!...and i think its great that ur listening to ur body and the ED has turned into a dull roar....i think that ED will always be with u in a way...like not too many people could go through their day and accurately count their cals cuz they wouldnt remember everything they ate...and they prolly wouldnt know the accurate cals for the foods...and i also think that ED will ensure that u will never get obese if u get what i mean...u r too aware of cals and ur intake for that to happen...so in that way, having an Ed gave u a step up....and now that u have the awareness and are getting into a healthier state of mind again, id say that u have it all together =)
That was a lovely journal entry hunni; you really do sound as if ED is something of the past in your life. I am so proud of you. You have worked so hard to get to this point. I hope you manage to continue this which you really do sound strong enought to do. You deserve an Ed free life and to be content and happy XoXoX
