A Bit Of A Rough Patch

Well, I have caught 4 mice so far. Its kind of freaking me out. And the holidays are already giving me the blues (OK I am doing it to myself) I have alot of new neighbors. So all the homes are all brightly decorated and lit up ... at work I listen to the mix of Christmas music... everyone is talking about shopping and baking... and I come home to my empty house... and fuzzy rodents.

I also went today for my follow up from last eye surgery. I was concerned because I thought it seemed a little blurry again. It turns out my left lens shifted so they may have to go back in to readjust it.

I'm kind of feeling like the rest of the world is going on without me. I need to suck it up and not dwell on the negative.  As Frank barone would say "Aw suck it up Nancy and get off your pity pot.!"  LOL

Kim I am sorry to hear that the lens shifted....I have never heard of that happening before....glad you have a great doctor who knows his shit.....

the mice are all coming in now....I put out poison under the stove and refrigerator and behind my wash machine tower.....that is tempting stuff they enjoy eating to death....I use stuff called Havvoc.....it was stuff ex-wife recommended when out at the farm store while we were married........I can find it locally at just one hardware store but it is close and a small business in rough neighborhood and a bag is like $1.....so I cut bag open and pour out some small amounts of the bright teal colored pellets and put them under stuff where dogs cannot get it...

even though Dave and I had our problems, it is still hitting me that this is his first Christmas he is gone .(And he could be a bit of a grinch at times , but still he did change his tune til all was said and done. ) I think you make a good point--- many of us will be spending this (and future ) holiday without someone we love. May her memories help to comfort you and bring a smile this holiday. Hugs, Kim

I think those first holidays without our loved ones is always hard. Combine that with this holiday season and COVID changing how we celebrate and who we celebrate with us, it’s like double wammy.

I put up the tree the other day and felt completely unsettled by doing it, sort of irritated. Couldn’t put my finger on why. I think it just kicked up some stuff, missing my family and missing my friends, feeling like it’s not natural to not be around other people. I ran some errands after putting up the tree and while in the car I felt all this emotion bubbling up. It wasn’t tears; it wasn’t sadness. It was just everything. So I’m driving on the freeway and I just let out from the top of my lungs a sustained half scream/ half yell. I am sure I looked like a complete lunatic but man it felt good, haha!

Anyway, I think everyone is going through some stuff this holiday season for one reason or another. I also think people are on the Christmas band wagon earlier this year because what else is there to do, haha!

Hope your lens situation resolves and your mice find a new place to live, haha!

Hugs, love and strength to you. The holiday season is definitely a very difficult time of year. Covid definitely hasn't helped. I do my best to use this time to try to focus on the happiest memories from seasons past. I also try to make new good memories by either starting a new tradition, even if it's just something I do for myself or by trying to do nice things for others, sometimes complete strangers. Hang in there, you will get through this.

And now today I have re-added the back tax issue from 2016. I spent a good hour after work with my tax lady (from H&R Block) who was kind enough to try again and finally reach a live person at the IRS. (Of course she had to be the rudest and snippiest) They said they already did excuse the penalty and interest , but are claiming I owe the same full amt . So now more red tape and inquiries, but my lady is kind enough to help check into it and possibly file for spousal forgiveness (since I did not sign-filed online by Dave as he prepared it) Not sure what will happen... but I am tired of still being clueless as to what comes next. I just want to get things taken care of and start over. Why can't anyone just let me do that????

Well think if it this way: you have this lady who is trying to help you and will figure it out.

Starting over is a process. You are doing it!

And I am am so thankful to have her in my corner. I just wish I had more resolved by now. Still stuck. :(

I am also thankful for many of you here. It does help to know others do support and are rooting for me when I get to feeling I am floundering alone. I am reminded that is not the case. There are reasons I am still here and I do realize others are far worse off than me.

I have been on DS long enough to know that there are many who come here initially to vent and realize there are others too with similar issues.... and then they disappear. I am not one of those. I am of the variety who comes to realize, but then continues and reaches out to you all... kind of like a lifeline (if you will) So when the going gets tough... or even when I am excited about something going well...I come here. For me (and probably many of us with issues) it is far easier to talk here than with family or friends who cannot or will not understand.

To rmb and so very many others... THANK YOU SO MUCH.

PS. I am finally off today and I stayed in bed til 9 AM. (usually up at 4:30 ) I am now tackling the usual chores... but slow and steady. I will see my tax lady tomorrow after work and she will proceed into checking things further. Trying to deal with other crap as it comes and not dwell on it. ( I think I may just dig out a little decoration or two for just me so I can feel like it is my Christmas too.. If I don't, it is as though I am being excluded and punished... and Lord knows I don't need to do that to myself . Have done it for too long already. )

Love and hugs to all... and may it help to know that I do think of many of you and all that you also have to deal with. Thanks again.
