A 360 Change
Do you ever have times in life where you feel you know the road you're travelling & all of a sudden things take a total 360.
Our decision with Pepper was so so confusing for both of us. I think I was more ready & accepting then hubby was. We did a major amt of soul searching. Upon checking with the vet again I more soul searching I felt I was being drawn to the decision that we shd give Pepper another chance at living out the rest of his life the way he's meant to. I think deep inside our vet felt that as all his organs are still very strong we shd at least cover all bases & try the thyroid & intestinal meds. At least that way we'll know that we did everything we could for him vs in time down the road wondering if maybe we shd of tried more. So Pepper is not being put down & we'll be starting the med program at suppertime today. We've also got a sample of some thyroid health food to try him on. I'm still so very very torn abt this though. There's that part of me that is just not sure. When I stop & focus in my soul there is that voice that is saying that he does deserve this chance. A good thing - he's quite easy to give a pill to. We have a method where one holds him firmly & the other pops the pill in, rubs the throat, & bingo done.
So I'm sure there are some people that will be shaking their heads over our whole way of dealing with this but this is the way the road will take us right now. I really do value all the views & thoughts of my friends here so I look forward to being able to share this with you & embrass your thoughts on this matter.
You know Pepper has been like an oldest child to us. I can't believe it's 15 yrs already. He is a part of our house & for all his sometimes grumpyness & craziness we so love him, the total package as he is.
Tues a.m. now I'll be having a heart stress test of some kind at the facility where hubby is taking his lung rehab program. Then on Thurs a.m. I have a full analysis of goals and where I'd like to be healthwise & fitness routine ideas will be given to me. Sounds overwhelming in a way but I do know I think it can help me really stay focused on being the best I can be. We did some financial figuring & by going thru this facility & not going thru the city facilities & city classes we can save a fair amt of money which surprised me cause I would of thought it would be the other way around. Mind you, this facility is tied in with one of our 3 major hospitals. I'll not renew my yoga membership at the place I'm at now & I'll not renew my city fitness pass. I can take any variety of classes at the new place, alot of them free with your membership. The membership covers parking in the lot already too. So here I go - off on a new adventure.
I'll stop babbling now & sign off. I do so hope this day finds all my friends wrapped securely in love & happiness.

Okay, well, I am so HAPPY you\'re doing what your heart tells you....that lil nagging voice was chattering I think. God bless you for doing this and I agree, Pepper can give the new meds a go and see how things work out, seems like pill dispensing is fun :)... Happy news....
Honestly, I will live with horrible guilt to my dying day about taking Molly back to the Humane Society. After 2 years of working with her, and she continued to pee on the carpet, I had had enough. Hubbie later told me he would have kept her. Add to the guilt. I pray that they found a single pet home for her but will never know and fear she\'s gone. That was the hardest thing I\'ve ever done. The goal was a 2nd cat, friend to Groucho, etc. and she just never did that. Scooter is a great fit....but the heart knows, right? Nuff of me babbling...
Loving your new adventure, please motivate me to go tour a gym :)
Keep on babbling, that\'s what we do her....Hugs to you, pats to Pepper (puuuurrrrrr)....hi to hubbie
I know how hard it was for you to decide what to do. You did what was best for you and your hubby. Things always work out if we pray before we do anything. Love, Frieda.
PS. I am here any time you need to talk, cry or just vent..
I totally understand your thoughts about Pepper. No one cares more about their pets than you do, or gives more thoughts to their welfare. I\'m positive that whatever you decide it will be the right choice! God bless you and your furry family too. I hope he will rally and show you that he likes your choice too.
The new place sounds like a good option for you and that\'s great to hear you are saving money too. Turning over a new leaf can be exciting.
It sounds like you are in a good place and I hope all of your tests turn out fine too. xoxo
I\'m late, as usual. I caught up on your journals last week, but never got around to commenting.
Only thing I can advise is take it one step at a time. That\'s what I try to do when overwhelmed. That and Xanax :p which I try not to take until I can\'t breathe.
Pepper is very fortunate to have you. I agree that you want to at least try to give him some quality of life during his last stretch, if you decide to put him down too soon you will always wonder if it was too soon.
I hope your heart test went well and that Hubby is doing good with his pulmonary rehab.
