Interesting day.  Went with my youngest daughter on a field trip to the Perkins Observatory at Ohio Weslyian (sp) University.  It was really neat  and the tour guide was very entertaining.  For lunch we sat out on the lawn because it was such a nice day.  While we were eating lunch there was one boy sitting by himself.  He was odd man out because he couldn't come on the day his class was supposed to come, so he tagged along.  Anyway, he asked me who my kid was, I pointed her out and he asked why she didn't have red hair. lol.  So we talked about that for a minute.  Then he asked what the bumps on my face were from, if I had been in a really bad accident or something.   Funny.  so I told him about NF.  Usually I get embarrassed when people ask about them, but this was different.  The way he asked was just as natural as when he asked me about the hair color thing.  There wasn't an "eww gross" implied in his tone.  Anyway, just interesting.  But it does kinda bother me that I just can't ever get away from the NF.  It will always make me different.  This kid will be back with his class tomorrow and fit right in, but I will always be "odd person out".

Kids have such a innocent way of asking a question. A couple of years ago I had a child walk right up to me and ask, \"Sir, how did your stomach get so big?\" I simply told him it was because I did not eat right, and ate lots of bad things. He just simply said, \"Oh o.k., see you later.\" He was not rude at all. I wish that more adults could be as kind as some children.

I think you\'re much harder on yourself than lots of people. There aren\'t a lot of people who have gained any age and/or wisdom who don\'t have their own issues with their physicality that they would judge you. You are a great person who gives so much and does so much! A gift to those lucky enough to know you. GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT FOR BEING THE WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING THAT YOU ARE! You know what they say: God doesn\'t make junk!

The voice of wisdom often comes from the innocent. The little boy did not see you as anything more than a little different. We all are different. Some are also very special.... Like you. Love Ya Sunshine.
