Another cold, but not rainy day. My personal trainer called this morning. She is still really sick, she sounded awful. I told her no problem. When she is well, she will call me. Oh well. So I went for my run in the neighborhood. I am still running 5 to walking 1-2 minutes. So I am no longer going to seperate the running and the walking. Because chances are very good I will have to do that for the marathon. In fact the training stuff suggests that is a good idea for beginners. It was funny, my run took me past an office building. I glanced at the building and saw in the window, a reflection, of a runner. It took me a minute to realize that was me! Not a racer or even a fast runner, but a runner nevertheless. So I started thinking about this time last year. I started walking because my New Years Goal was to loose 50 pounds. I did not make that goal, but I think I have done much better than that. I thought about how this time last year, I had to stop several times to get my breath just walking around the block which is about one mile. I ran 6 miles this morning in about an hour and 20 minutes. An MRR (medium recovery run). It actually felt good. Funny. Tomorrow I will go to the gym to do the circuit training for strenghth. Then another SRR on Saturday, off of Sunday and on Monday, I try for 12 miles. I got some low fat, high protein, high carb energy bars that one of my training book suggested. It is supposed to keep you from hitting the fabled "wall". We shall see. I need to somehow keep this positive energy going.
