Well, called my dad to wish him Merry Christmas. He was running out the door to have dinner with the rest of the family at my step sister's house. Everyone invited but me and my family of course. My step brother and his family, my brother and my dad and his wife. I know it shouldn't bother me. Kinda stupid of me at this point. They would have invited me if I lived closer you see. But 4 hours, they just didn't think I would be able to come anyway. Yeah, right. They didn't not invite me because they didn't think I could make it. They didn't invite me because they didn't want me to come. I really wish they would just be honest with me and quit treating me like I am stupid. But I am still putting me down for OK, because I am NOT going to let this ruin my whole day. Just needed to vent a bit. My dad is ashamed that I am his daughter, I am nothing but a big, fat failure to him. I just have to accept that and move on.

I hope I don\'t make you mad, but your dad sounds like a real first class jerk. You are much better off without people like him in your life, family or not.
Vent away. It is all you can do when family members behave this way. You cannot change your family, only yourself. I like that you are choosing not to try and change your Dad\'s opinion of you, instead focus on yourself and your husband and kids. Be grateful, Marah, because it would be much worse than if you didn\'t have them. Try and focus on these blessings, okay?
Marah, you are a valuable, valid, viable woman. It is difficult not to have our daddy\'s approval. But my dear sister in Christ, our Daddy, GOD, sees you as a precious daughter, one who He has loved since the beginning of the world and one who he will never leave or forsake. This is the Daddy\'s opinion that truly matters...your Heavenly Daddy.
Families are so weird sometimes. Once when my nephew was getting married, my BIL called up and said we\'re sending you an invitation but we really don\'t expect you to come...and that was only a ninety minute drive. We kinda of got the hint that we weren\'t really invited to come... just to send a gift! Same BIL who asked hubby to give him his share of his father\'s inheritance...a very small amount...because BIL thought his father would want BIL\'s kids to have it! We\'ve reconciled with him now, but those memories still make me shake my head!
Your value is not based on your father\'s opinion so don\'t be so hard on yourself. I would let the family know that you were offended that they didn\'t invite you. Its the invite that is important not whether you can make it or not.
