Well this has been an interesting day. It started out rainy and warm when I left for church. By the time I started for home, the rain had ended, but it was really cold and very windy. Shortly after I got home, we lost power. I guess because of the wind. You could hear it howling outside. It reminded me of the Christmas of 1982 BC (before children). My hubby and I had been married a couple of years. It had not been a good year. We were both in college and working full time. I worked days at a Morrison's and he worked nights at the hospital. My MIL was dying of cancer in hospice care and our first pet, a rabbit named Fiver was at the vet's and unbeknownst to us, dying of a brain cancer of some type. The rabbit loved music, especially Christmas music and we were allowed short visits with him. So I recorded some on tape and took a portable tape player to the vet hospital to play for him. A couple of days before Christmas, we got the call that Fiver had died. Hubby had to work overnight Christmas Eve. I awoke Christmas morning to an ice storm which took out power to our appt. It was about 30 degrees inside. I called my hubby at work. He had taken a thermos of coffee to work with him, so he used the work coffee pot to make hot water and brought it home in the thermos. So we sat in our darkend appt. sipping hot chocolate made from the hot water he brought home and listening to the Christmas music we had recorded for Fiver.

I\'m sure that\'s a Christmas you\'d rather look back on than relive, but it is touching and tender all the same. Our weather can\'t decide what it wants to do...freezing one day, warm the next...a perfect breeding ground for colds and flu.
