I enjoyed the visit of a dear friend the other day. Sitting outside, shooting bb's at a water bottle, made me realize what I truly miss since becoming a widow. It's the simple things that couples do together...the time spent just "being" and doing whatever you want on a whim. When my friend left that day I admit I felt sadness...an emptiness that I had forgotten about. It's not that I have romantic feelings for my friend...I care about him the same as I do my other friends...but because he is male, his visit caused me to have a realization of what I am missing in my life. I don't really have a desire to go out looking for a new husband...but I've decided that I do want to keep an open mind and ask God to put someone in my life that make me feel complete again as a woman. After my visit that day, I have spent time in prayer to ask God to fill my heart with His love and presence so that I don't feel that I'm missing out on something. He is so good! He is my ever-present help in times of need and truly my source of happiness. He has answered those prayers and I feel more peaceful and am going to continue resting in Him. I miss my husband and no one can take his place...but he's not coming back. That is probably why I felt sad that day too...knowing I may never have that relationship again. My future...our future's are in God's hands...He knows what we need and what is planned for the rest of our lives. I was raised not to think too highly of myself...but I know I have a lot to give as a woman. I know I was a good wife...so I am trusting that God hears my prayers and one day puts a good man in my life again. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not toward your own understanding...in all ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path!” Amen!
