Hi all... again no text color. I went to the doc and they changed my breakthru meds to morphine sulfate 3x a day. This stuff scares me. I am seeing the doctor on 8/16. The nurse was wondering if i should see a neurologist again. Now what would the purpose of that. I would not have another surgery. I have done alot of research and it states that back surgery is not effective on back pain just leg pain and the chances of a successful surgery is slim to none.I don't know what to do. I can't stand the thought of being on morphine. Has anyone had this med and how did it work"? I have only had one pill and I feel a little relief. Can anyone help me to understand this process cause I sure don't.Anyway enough whining. Joes business is really picking up. He got a used van and actually had to hire 2 electricians. I am so glad for him. He has waited a long time for something to come his way. I don't know if I told all of you but my younger daughter is having another baby in January 2008. At this point I will have to change my spare guest room into a nursery lol. Love all my friends here and really don't know what I would have done without them. Your support and friendship mean an awful lot to me. I can't always sit on the computer because of the pain so hopefully this medicine will help,. Talk to you all soon

I took Kadian, which is morphine, whats the name of the drug. So happy for the other blessings in your life, business picking up and a new grandbaby, how wonderful. (My ex was self employed, paint contractor) Glad he passed the test and everything is working for ya\'ll.
It is morphine sulfate immediate release
Oh Darlin.... I am so sorry you are having such a bad time.... don\'t worry about me... you take care of you. That way I won\'t have to worry about you........ yea right... who am I trying to kid....... we will both worry about the other no matter what. Just please take care.... The only time I\'ve ever had morphine was in a pump after a surgery. Wish I could have offered some suggestions......
Love ya Lady!!!!
Congrats on the new lil one. My daughter is also having a baby in February 2008. I am lsoing alot of my home to my precious lil ones. lol I am sorry you are having such a time. I dont know what to tell you bout morphine. I was on it a few years ago, when all this started but only for a short time. I know at the time, I wasn\'t able to walk at all cuz the pain was so bad and that did relieve it enough I could walk. I truly hope you find relief soon. I will keep you in my prayers.
Gentle Hugs.....Julie
believe it or not, my husband takes morphine sulfate. It takes a bit getting used to so don\'t drive while your on it. Until you get used to it, you will be groggy off and on, but it really works. There is one side effect though, and it\'s not pleasant, but not everyone suffers from it and it does go away shortly after beginning the meds and that is constipation. It drove my husband nuts. I\'ve even taken a few when the pain is totally intolerable. It really helps alot. I\'m getting ready to eat but I\'ll be back to talk more about it. lots of love
Wow,praying for you Laurie.I\'ve only had morphine shots but when my pain hits 10 they are the only thing that helps.Love you!
nope never had morphine, my doc won\'t give it to me, I have suffered plenty because of it. Sounds scary, but if it works, that it. Congrats grandma ! I hav a new one due in January, that will be # 11 for us! My God will somebody tell all of them to stop!!!! lol hugs sandy
Hi. Chattermolly said to drop you a line. I\'ve been on morphine for about 8 years now. Fractured 3 vertabrae in my back, had 2 neck fusions, so I don\'t have to explain about pain...you get the idea. Take MS Cotin 30 mgs 3x\'s a day, (cotin stands for continuous release) without it, I wouldn\'t have a life and would not be able to work. The doctor has even said he doesn\'t know how I walk everyday. Theres nothing to worry about with it, it\'s been used for thousands of years, just understand what it is and that the side effects - constipation, confusion, mental problems - so you have to be monitored while on this medication. I\'m required to see the dr every 3mths. To me, it\'s a miracle drug, I don\'t think you have anything to worry about. The most important thing about problems like yours and ours (I\'m a painting contractor for a living)(LOL) you have to get up and move. Not moving is not good. Plenty of excercise, any way you can get it, is very important for problems like ours. That\'s the biggest mistake people make, not excercising enough. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. Take care. lots of love.
congratulations grammie! we all love our houses when they are full of grandkids and total chaos reigns! lol i have one and one on the way. that\'s why the heck i had 4 to begin with! bring on the babies!!! hope all goes well w/your new meds. confusion, constipation and mental problems...that\'s me on a daily basis.lol!
It is so funny how a good portion of us are having new grandbabies on the way. As for the confusion, constipation and mental problems I am there without the meds. lol Thanks you for all of your comments. I keep saying it but it is true.. you all hold a special place in my heart.I appreciate your love for me and please know that it is definitely how I feel about you guys. Hugs Laurie
I can\'t help you with the morphine question, I\'ve never taken it, but I sure hope it helps you. I understand your concern, I\'m that way about medicine, too, but your doctor wouldn\'t prescribe it for you if it wasn\'t necessary. Sure hope it helps. Happy that Joe is doing so well with his business...wonder if he\'d consider a trip to Miami in the near future! Congratulations on the new addition soon to be, how fun fixing up a nursery would be. You take care, I hope you find complete relief with the new medicine. xxoo
