The field of medicine has always been a mystery to me. You never know if someone is taking advantage of you because you have insurance or if they mean to help you. One thing I do know is that my surgeon has not been honest with me. I don't have to tell anyone what pain feels like. We all have it in different places. But for a doctor to look at an xray of my spine and tell me it looked beautiful and he didn't know why I was hurting is downright mean. He made me feel inadequate and like a hypochondriac. I spent the weekend self guessing myself and wondering if I was going crazy.

I went to a new doc who specializes in pain management and after he read my chart he told me my "beautiful back" was a mess. I looked at him and he went on to tell me what was wrong with me. That part wasm't pleasant but at least he took the time to sit with me, make me feel like I am not a lunatic, and gave me a plan of action. He put me on a pain patch and let me continue with flexeril and take the lorcet as needed. He already gave me a new type of epidural injection and have a second one scheduled in two weeks.

If you are not happy with your doctor, or if he or she is insensitive to your situation I urge you all to get a second opinion. I am not saying I will be back to normal, he even told me that, but he gave me hope that at least I will be able to function again.

I\'m really happy for you. We don\'t go in demanding a pain free life, although it would be nice. Sometimes we\'re just asking for a little validation and hope. You got both. Way to go, girl!

I agree with you 100% (doctor part). Just because they are \'doctors\' does not make them right all the time or good. Thank you for going to another doctor. I don\'t think that you are going crazy or lunnie, I like to hear from you, I don\'t care if it\'s just for minute. See? Prayers do get answered ;) LOTS of xoxoxooxoxoxo

Good for you!Bad Drs can make an already bad situation worse. My best Dr sits on the table next to me after the exam and explains all the numbers on my labs and views from xrays and dopplar scans. It makes all the difference in the world.

You are on the right track now, give that doc a hug, or at least a thank you. A good on is hard to find, and that is a shame. Rest well. sandym
