Day 5

Well, today was a little rougher than the others.  I spent the day debating on getting some beer on the way home.  An ice cold one sounded REALLY good.  Or even a glass of wine.  But I know me.  One beer turns into a 12 pack and a "glass of wine" turns into a bottle (or a 1/2 of the box).  I can't have just one.  I know that about myself.  When my husband got home, he asked how I was (as he does every day) and I just shook my hand like "so-so".  He asked what was wrong and I told him that I was struggling.  He said, "What can I do?"  I said, "Go get some beer."  He said "What else can I do?"  He's supportive...to a point.  He had darts last night and came home ass-over-backwards drunk.  I didn't mind, until he tried to start an argument (which is kinda what we do).  I told him I wasn't discussing anything until he sobered up.  He stormed off and about 10 minutes later came back to apologize.  Even drunk, he knew that he was being unreasonable.  Either that or he wanted a little something from me.

Anyway, it's day 5 and I'm still kickin'.  Gonna spend the weekend with my family, so that should help.  Mom and Dad have been sober for over 30 years.  My sister is trying to beat the addiction as well, so I'm thinking we can be good support for each other.  Or each other's worst nightmare.  We'll see.
