Today was a little more challenging than most. We had a fundraiser at work for the daughter of a lady I work with. Her daughter was 4 years old and diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia three weeks ago. She died yesterday. Anyway, we had a lunch to raise money for her treatment (now for her funeral) and it was difficult.

They served BBQs (or sloppy joe's, for those not from the midwest), macaroni salad, baked beans, potato salad, and bags of chips. I took some beans and a little bit of potato salad and sat there, watching everyone talking and eating and laughing, knowing that I had to pay attention to every single bite, or I would regret it. My boss offerred me some Cheeto's and it was incredibly hard to say no, KNOWING they weren't good for me, but also knowing they would chew up quite nicely, and go down REALLY smooth.

I felt good, because I donated money to a good cause, but I felt bad because I couldn't partake in the bake sale. Everything they were selling looked awfully yummy, but I knew I couldn't even have it in my house or I'd sit and munch.

Some days, it's hard to sit and watch people eat whatever they want, but I just remind myself that I'm going to be healthy.
