Help I'm experiencing my fourth miscarriage. I'm so devastated. An ultrasound on Thursday revealed that the baby had died. It is now Sunday and I have a "missed miscarriage". What do I do? My doctor wants to do a d&c only as a last resort. I'm to wait to let nature take its course or I can speed things up taking an abortion pill. How much more miserable can things get? Anyone out there with some advice?

I am so sorry ...Your story sounds all too familiar to me...I had one healthy, problem free pregnancy, gave birth to a little boy. Then 3 miscarriages in a row.
I had d&c\'s with the first two m/cs, and decided because I had already had 2 d&cs relatively close together, that I would let the last one go on it\'s own. I wouldn\'t chose to do that again. It took days and days, I bled like crazy, (because I wanted testing done on the fetus, I had to \"catch\" it in a cup and take it to the lab). It took almost 2 months for my period to return, (there was some concern all the tissue hadn\'t been expelled from my uterus, and my body was still registering a pregnancy). It was messy physically and emotionally. So, unless your doctor has a really great argument against it, I would go with the d&c.
Now, the next thing to deal with is why all the miscarriages? My three were unexplained until I found a doctor who dug deep into my medical file, and came up with some ideas. I had some really rare and crazy tests run, but after 3 m/c, they start looking under every rock. Have you been tested for antiphospholipid syndrome? How about your natural killer cells, are the elevated at all? I had both of these problems, and they were both treatable. The next pregnancy was high risk, and successful only due to the amount of drugs and bedrest I was on, but it was all worth it (another boy).
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am here.
