90 days

90 days.... Chloe started a new school, Skyelar has had 2 girlfriends, 3 jobs and been arrested 1 time to include a felony charge, Jamie has started working after 3 yrs of not working and he hates his new job. For me.... I learned to paddleboard, started a drum circle, became a 3% owner of a new business venture and I'm slowly making friends and learning my way around.

90 days it seems like longer. It began scorching hot. Yesterday was 82 degrees and last night was just amazing. The full moon over the beach. A beautiful breeze. I thought last night’s drum circle was going to be a bust. It seems that we might have a good one and them we have ones where no one shows. At first there was just 3. But I really advertised at the last minute yesterday on FB. I hate it when it's only 2 of us. Eventually they came. The best part is when tourist comes over and start playing too. I have a bag of spare percussion instruments. When they sit and listen. Then clap and encourage them to come and join us. We had a couple of Chinese ladies that spoke little English join us. I assume they are Chinese as I asked what that horrible mark on the ones arm was and she said Chinese cupping. They had a blast. Took pictures and video. Then they went about their vacation. A little while later some ladies I'd say in their 50's or older showed up. Just arriving from Missouri after a 12 hour drive. They had their coke bottles filled with Vodka and pink lemonade. They danced, played instruments and took lots of pics. We told them some places to go on their visit. They thought we sounded like professionals. Drunk goggles. It was cool. They hugged us and asked if we were there every night because they wanted to come back.

Anyway... I talked with another lady in my circle and she was telling me about some things to do around here that I might be interested in. Around here instead of Civil War reenactments they do Renaissance reenactments. That's sounds like something my whole family would love. She also saws (which I want to learn) she has a kiln. Which I have but I am not sure it's going to work. We don't have the right electricity here. Anyway I told her we must be friends. She came to another circle in the past and I just thought she was a little awkward and weird. Last night when she came I thought the same thing. But then I started talking to her. She is still a little awkward and weird but in a better way than I had originally thought. It's good to give people a chance and talk to them. I must be awkward and weird too.

I've told you many times, I find it incredibly cool that you've made drumming such a big part of your life and that you are finding people where you live to share that passion with you:)
Can't believe it's been 3 months already that you've been there. And listing all of what's happened with your kids and hubs - whoa, that's a whole lotta activity!!!
So glad things are smoothing out for you and that you're feeling your groove down there.
Love ya!!

Hi sweetie. Great journal and I can't believe it's been 3 months already either! I know there've been some bumps in the road ( and praying for the best resolution for S ). Hopefully J will grow to like his job once he gets in the groove of working after not working for 3 years, or I hope he finds a different job he likes better. I'm so proud of you and for all of the cool things you're doing. Things you've learned to do..The drum circle sounds amazing and your new ' weird and akward' ( smiling ) friend sounds cool. Love you!! xoxo
