9 mos from DDAY
We are 9 mos from DDAY today. that's enough time to create a whole new human being! This past week has been kinda tough. Out of the 9 people living in our house most of us have been sick this past week.
I had the flu and a gigantic boil on my butt. I got on my painkiller regimen I developed when my wisdom tooth was hurting and I worked all day every day anyway. Cause that's how we rock and roll. Like the energizer bunny; like the mailman. Neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor the flu nor a giant boil will keep me from my work! Lol
Anyway, it is unbelievable how much a boil hurts but by the look of the hole it left behind I know why it hurt so much. It was EATING me! By Thurs. the flu was getting better but the boil, which had opened up and was draining slowly and should have been progressively feeling better, was only hurting worse. I had researched on line and was doing everything I knew to do for home treatment but thurs night I cried because it hurt so bad. I could not sit at all. I could barely move. So off I went to the ER. I haven't been to the ER in about 10 yrs. Haven't even been to the dr. for about 5 yrs. If you don't have insurance you only go to the Dr. if you are hurting very badly or scared. I was both. The pain had started moving down my leg.
So all they did was give me a tetanus shot since I have an open wound, (my arm is very sore) and prescribe me antibiotics and pain meds. There was no need to lance it or anything since it is already open.
Well, it has been getting better very fast. It's not hot or red. It is purple around it now and flatter and now I can sit almost comfortably. I have to take 2 pills 4 times a day but the pills are working very fast.
Anyway, with all that has been going on here, A)the five extra people, B) The sickness, C) my pain and fatigue, D) The general chaos and busyness, H and I are struggling to stay connected and keep up the recovery work we have been doing.
It's funny because I am the one who gets sucked into the chaos and activity and I am the one who has made a commitment to carve out more time for him. It wasn't as much of a problem before all the extra people but now I am just so much more distracted and there are lots of things that must be done
We were in the car alone together today for about an hour and a half and I got to read more from After the Affair. Then I got to go to confession again because our priest has been out for several weeks following a rotator cuff surgery
It's after midnight and I am dozing at the keyboard again. Off to bed.

Thanks for sharing..haha..I\'m sorry..don\'t mean to laugh (and I did at the library..haha)..but the boil..the way you put it..I needed that laugh thank you :) I am very succeptible to them as well..NOT FUN! Especially in hot tubs..OMGoodness..once..no joke..I got 40something boils on my back from a hot tub in the mountains in Tennessee!! They say you get them from the staph bacteria. Apparently I\'m staph prone..I dunno..but I feel you! I hope that you and Cole can reconnect like you were. I know it\'s hard with the houseguests. But..when it\'s the most quiet in the house is when I\'d think it\'d be the best time..maybe? Even if it\'s in the middle of the night..it\'s worth the time :) We\'ve done that before..talked til 3-4..8 am at times..and it\'s done wonders for us. Communication is vital, as I\'m sure you know. How is confession going? I\'m not Catholic..all I know about confession is what I\'ve seen in movies..is it anything like that? I\'m an oddball for asking aren\'t I? LOL..PEACE..
Just re-read what I wrote. It was kinda funny, Lol. At least it is all better now. I can\'t imagine getting that many. Cole has had some in the groin area but smaller ones that come and go quickly. We must have gotten it from the hot tub.
Cole and I have been reconnecting a little better. It is really a matter of me breaking away from all I want and need to do to spend more time with him. We both get really occupied in different parts of the house. That has always been our pattern which is why we paid each other so little attention before DDAY. Just happily co-existing without communicating very much. I love the deeper connection, more sex, more time together.
We are Orthodox christians which is a little different from Catholic. The Catholics confess through a screen as I understand it but we stand right beside the priest facing the alter area before an Icon of Christ and he is wearing his vestments and drapes his stoll thing (thats not what its called) over your head and then he says a prayer and asks you what you have to confess.
Most people only confess a few times a year. I have never been all that comfortable confessing and now I have to do it every week. The result of that is that I am getting more comfortable with it and I am learning how to really dig deep and understand my sins better. My issues. It really is helping me a lot especially since we can\'t afford counseling any more.
I keep wondering when he is gonna let me take communion again but I just have to be patient and believe that he will know when the time is right. We are wondering if he will let me take communion for Easter. The biggest day of the year in our church. We think we will probably make me wait at least a full year. That would be after Easter. DDAY 1 yr anniversary is May 11.
Hi Gabrielle, I\'m 8 months from Dday of my husband\'s A. I\'m new to this group and was intrigued by your journal because I\'m trying to understand the healing process from my husband\'s POV. I hope it will help me in healing and forgiveness. Hope you don\'t mind if I check in now and again.
