9 months and it doesn't get any easier
Well, for some reason I have had Jess and her situation on my mind for 2 days. Probably because yesterday when we talked, she sounded down on herself, called herself a criminal and that no one paid attention to what a criminal wants. She is depressed because Wade is going to go back out on paint and patch this year...1 because they need the money and 2 because his boss says do it or find another job. I know she is really upset because he was out on paint and patch when all this started and culminated with her arrest and I don't know what she is feeling inside. Maybe it will help if Victoria can get the judge to sign off on letting her be with the boys unsupervised. I just wish I could find some positive stories out there. I keep reading the really sad ones where so many are treated so unjustly by our failing, faltering system and I can't seem to find one good one where someone was able to be heard as a real person who made a mistake but wasn't hung out to dry for it. Teresa tells me to keep my hopes up, she really feels that Jess will get some breaks out of the system....I really hope so...if she does I think I will post it everywhere or write a book or something....It's just so heartbreaking that the rules are so strict and will affect so many people around her as well as the stuff she has to endure. Most days, she takes it so well and counts herself blessed that she didn't go to jail and does get to live with her family and has Lizzie. I have to admit that I am very, very proud of her and her commitment to try to stay positive and do all the right things so no one doubts her anymore.
I think back to my own childhood and the things I went through and never told anyone and then I think about how Jess grew up and what her own dad did, and then I think about Tyler and his dad, and his mom who I can't help but put part of the blame on.......It's just not right!! What is happening in this world that people can't see past a label.....I guess we just have to overwork that label sooo much before people can finally see that the label isn't the person behind it....I remember other labels......niggers, halfbreed, gay....these were in the older days but days I remember...and they were harsh, too and wrong!!!
Well, tomorrow is another day and hopefully it will bring good things with it, I really pray that it gets better for her.
