WEll a lady came in and asked to see files, I showed them to her and she asked if she could just get them herself, I said sure, because I am entering in the bililng. she says that one is missing. I tell her, no its there. Then I say, "did you look through all of it, even the ones below?" Of course she didn't! What a moron. Why are you going to claim something is missing when you haven't search through everything in the first place? Then she goes in a cabinet and mutters, "Its crazy how they store things!" She is complaining. Well, first of....the "they" she is referring to-that is ME. I store the stuff that way. I have to, I have no other choice. The other cabinets are filled, and I wasnt approved to buy the filing supplies to better organize the papers. The drawers are a certain style, and the folders that fit these special water proof and fire proof cabinets are special, and cost too much. I was turned down when I requested to buy the supplies to more appropriately organize items, and if my bosses wont allow me to send old paperwork from a year ago off to storage, I am stuck with what i am stuck with. I can't believe someone would have the nerve to make a complaint when I am doing the best I can. And this is my job, in my office. Does she really believe some magical elf pops out at night and does the filing this way and she can grumble about it?
At my last performance appraisal I was given a average appraisal even though I did a great job this year and saved the company a ton of money. One of the things they asked me to improve upon was organizing and storing records. I stately plainly to my boss that because the cabinets and the bulk of the files requrie certain specific file folders, I need to have those to utilize them and do the organizing and things would be easier to find, but the company wont let me have them. So why are they complaining? I can only do what I can do with the resources they supply me. What do they expect, me to go purchase the office supplies out of my paycheck in order to make things better? Insane!
