My son has the movie Mulan. I've watched it several times. It does a great job portraying a brave woman. I love it up until the end. And then I am depressed. Because come on! What is going to happen? Mr. Good Guy comes along and proposes to Mulan. But do you think he will respect her strength after he's married her? NO. Then she will just be relegated to being a housewife, a mother; she will be second to him and all of her prior accomplishments will be meaningless. I know this is a skeptical view, but at present, it is my world view. Perhaps there are men out there who are strong enough and self-confident enough to let their wives be strong competent women--but I certainly didn't marry one :-(.
