I have to leave tomorrow for the whole day, and possibly the night as well, for a family emergency. With so little notice, I am left with no choice but to leave my two children alone all day with my husband. I hate this. I worry about their safety. He does not watch them at all. They have free run of the house, do and eat whatever they want, with little to no supervision. The younger one, the autistic one, is still at choking-hazard stage. The older one, who is almost 4, is pretty self-sufficient. Usually he just flat out refuses to watch them, but in this case, even he couldn't refuse to let me leave. And so he has to watch them, or at least be present in the house. Usually I bring in hired help to avoid this scenario since I so fear for their safety if they are alone with him. He doesn't watch them at all. He hides in his office with the TV blaring and drinks alcohol while HIS children run around the house--hungry, wet/poopy, thirsty. Did I mention the autistic one can't talk? So how is he supposed to get his needs met? It is an awful situation. If anything ever happened to the kids under his watch, I would leave him in a heartbeat. I've even told him this. He doesn't care. He's of the mindset that nothing bad could/would ever happen. And I feel guilty for having to leave and take care of this. I never go out unless I have someone else watching the kids. He prefers it this way. I want out so badly it isn't funny. And tomorrow another day will pass where I will wonder if my children are okay.
