Food.
O.K. guys, your bugging me to write so here goes... Fridays are always a busy day for me. I do the usual volunteer thing for four hours then come home and get ready to go do laundry. I decided to dust and polish the glass and wood stuff in the bedroom as I skipped it earlier this week and the stretching helps me move better. I got the laundry in the dryers and I am sitting with the apartment manager chatting and she tells me that Steve, my downstairs neighbor, has been put in a home. The news floored me. I was so sad for Steve, and I don't even like him??? He was found yesterday in Walmarts where here has been staying for the last three days. How he didnt get seen is beyond me? He used to teach at one of the colleges I attended. He is not a nice man nor is he a clean man. I found myself sitting in front of my computer waiting for my dinner to be cooked absolutely depressed. Not sad but depressed remembering my three months in a nursing home and how trapped I felt. I am out of there, I am free. Not much bothers me these days as I have lost everything and yet I survive. The bills are all paid for this month, there is gas in the car, and food in the fridge. The depression was really unusual. Then I realized that I had been so busy I had not snacked on anything at all since lunch. The realization that my body was falling into depression because of hunger was like a slap in the face. I ate a good supper and had quite the dessert and my mood lifted. I was not sad for Steve, because in truth, he should of been institutionalized years ago. Last month he spent three nights in a gully as he got lost on a short walk less than a mile from the apartments. So the moral of this story is: do not forget to eat. It is amazing how a little thing like a skipped afternoon snack can affact your body!!!!! E
