I decided that in an effort to entertain I neglected to tell some important details so that my actions would be more easily understood.  After my parents divorced and we moved to Lexinton it was explained to me that boys were suppose to fend for themselves where as girls were to be taken care of.   The child support that was sent by my Dad was supposed to take care of my sisters and I was supposed to take care of me.  For example;  They were given lunch money where as I had to figure out how I was going to get lunch.  This had me working in the caferteria at age 12 for my daily lunches.  Also I was told that boy children never complained about their circumstances so I didn't.  I kinda doubt that my dad knew what was going on, even to this day.  I remember that at one point I needed new shoes as I was growing rather quickly, I asked my mother, she said no and I wore winter boots, galoshes, all year round.  Yes I was ridaculed, even the teacher got in on this.  But as in Newton, where I lived before the divorce, even when they brought in psychologists I said that nothing was wrong.  I remember getting the lecture about what happens in a families home is no one business outside of the family.  Divorces in 1968 were rather unusual.  So to me, the move to Framingham was a liberating experience.  I could be a male and not feel shamed by it!

No child should go through what you went through - ever. You had a God given right to have a childhood and you were deprived of that.

I totally understand where you are coming from as far as what you say about fending yourself at a young age. Ok it was a bit differant for me i was told not too cry as that showed that you were weak, so therefore i never used to cry. It wasnt until i started doing therapy that they said it was ok to cry but even then it took a long time for me to let go of my true emotions. But today if i feel i need to cry i do, but i have also found it has helped me by moving out of the area i used to live in (well was brought up in)as i live away from all my family, but to this day i think thats the best.
