Ok Kiddoes, I remembered one more incidence from this time period.  When I was 13 or so my mother decided that my going a couple of houses over and talking with the old lady that lived there was sick.  She determined that the lady was trying to sexually molest me.  The rental house had a large pond that it was attached to in the back of it and her property abbutted this pond.  She was a sweet old lady and loved wild life as much as I did.   We could talk for hours about the wild life at the pond.  Her knowledge of plant life was also rather great and she showed me that there was wild concord grapes just for the asking.  A couple of days after my mother announced that this woman was evil I came home to find my dog dead in front of the house and my mother claimed that the old woman had poisoned him.  I clearly knew from the old ladies fondness for all creatures that this could not be the case and I said what I thought happened.  My mother had poisoned my dog out of spite!  I got a heck of a beating for that one but would not change my view of things.

You were absolutely right - your mother did just that. What an evil woman! That must have been so, so painful for you. She did that to try and destroy your relationship with the sweel little neighbor. I see my life flashing before my eyes with every new journal about these parents of yours\'. I am so sorry you went through that cruelty. How is it that you are walking around with a sane thought in your head? You are a strong soul, my friend.

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you for this post. When I had a parakeet of my very own - about age 8 - I came home to an empty cage one day after school. this little bird used to sit on my shoulder every day from after school to bed time + I loved that little guy. My mother said that the little boy across the street came over and the dog killed my bird. NOT SO!!!! It never made sense - my mother hated that kid and he was never at our house. She got rid of my bird - because I loved the little guy and because his mom was clearly concerned about my welfare. Wow.........it never made sense - I could not make it fit - your journal did. I have to call my sister.......we share these things.

Wow. You amaze me Eric how you were ever able to come out the other side of this. And LJ, I am so glad that you are able to relate to Eric. It must be such a revelation for you.

Oh God. How awful. How could she have done such a horrible thing. So sorry to hear this. Did you continue to see the old lady? Sounds like she was the only person around for you at that time.
