Just an update

Here it is August already.  I must be having fun cuz time has flown by.  I've discovered SNAP (the modern food stamps).   Wish I had back in March.  I'd be almost a thousand dollars ahead.  Ah, well, that's pretty typical.  Still looking for a job.  I've had 3 interviews, but nada so far.  Amazing, 3 interviews in 8 months.  Meanwhile, the rich CEOs are high on the hog with their windfall bailout money.  Boy, that was a serious misfire.  Well, I sold my washer and dryer that I bought in March, so I at least have rent money for September.  I guess getting them was a bit ambitious, but I honestly had no idea I would not have work by now.  I also have my drums and a microscope that was a Christmas present listed on Craigslist, but all I've gotten from them is spam.
To break the monotony I've started volunteering at Wildlife Images.  It's a wildlife rehabilitation and education center.  http://www.wildlifeimages.org/  Wednesday was my first day and OMG what a wuss I've turned into.  They are building a large sidewalk with concrete pavers, some have the names of donors, others are reserved for future use.  This is on an area that was just a dirt walkway for decades, so the clay is packed down like cement.  So what does fat, soft, lily white me get to do the first day out?  Use a pick and shovel to dig the top layer down as much as 4 1/2 inches.  The blisters have finally dried up and are just sore now, lol.  But my muscles didn't hurt the next day like I thought they would, and I didn't sunburn like the guys I was working with thought I would.  So I figure I'm 2 for 3.  Tomorrow I'm helping them with a fund raiser they are putting on at a local fitness club.  It's called CSI (yes, after the show).  I'm not exactly sure of what it will be like.  There's a page about it on their website, just look down the left side of the main page and you'll find the link.  I'll be helping them set up through the day, then the actual event is in the evening from 6 - 10, then I'll help them tear down.  It should be a lot of fun.
