Wooohooo!!!!  Great news from mom!!She told me this morning as I was serving her breakfast that she had gone to the front door earlier to see what the weather was like outside and when she got there she realized SHE FORGOT HER WALKER!!     It wasn' t far, only 4 to 6 feet, but the fact that she forgot to use it says a lot about her recovery.  She wanted me to not tell her daughter because of lectures about her going from 0 to 60 too fast and getting ahead of her healing.  I told her the lectures were about her making conscious choices that put her into dangerous territory, but her forgetting was a wonderfully good sign. Also, a considerable amount of feeling is back to her fingers.  Not all, but the tingling is gone and she's developing better control.  A month ago she had to have everything opened for her, but now she can open a lot of easy things.  Sealed lids, all pop tops, and some peel-off covers are still too much for her, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time and she'll get them too. There's still a long road ahead, but she moves a little further down it most days.  I am still amazed at the changes in her and how destructive something as simple as an underactive thyroid can be.  Not only destructive, but stealthy.  All the symptoms were identical to aging, which makes it much more dangerous because nobody thinks to have any preemptive testing done.
