Yesterday I wore a beautiful pink sleeveless blouse with my gold hearts... to clean the yard and decks ha ha and why not? I'm choosing my clothes more carefully on the mornings when I'm NOT working than when I am working, mostly I guess because it's important to me to feel good here at home... and my jewelry, Mary's got me thinking it's like armor, like choosing the right armor to face the day, that sparkle is a shield of some sort, or a weapon against... the baddies?
My daughter's friend, Angela stopped over too for a visit, and to watch me scrub dog poo from my deck... We had some laughs and got to talk a little together before Mary and her son stopped in on their way home from spending the whole day in the emergency room, testing G. for appendicitis and bloodwork, he was supposedly in some sort of pain in the morning, but you know, that kid said to me, when Mary wasn't listening, he said "Mrs. H., I swear to God, everytime I'm supposedly sick, I am making it up..." I think there's some validity to that, becauase they are mid-divorce, things are very bad right now, and suddenly G. has all these stomach issues? And wants to miss school? And get all this attention? It sounds a little... fishy...
So Ang says her mom is still drinking, and it's an issue... I told her about my 400 days and she laughed and said, "You have to count the days?!" and I said, no, not anymore, but I have a journal with a counter on it, and it sorta sneaks up on me every once in a while, just how far I've come... We didn't really get to talk enough about it, I think she could use... I don't know,... some sort of hope... for her mom... I think I may write her a letter when I get done here, just sorta explain my journey a little better to her, see if I can't... I don't know... give her some sort of ...meh... I just feel like I can help her in some way, if not her mom... Truth be told, I could reach out to her mom, she and I were friends a long time ago, I could renew that friendship and just sorta be there for her. I could so do that. I don't mean that I would foist recovery-talk on her, but I could be a friend to her again. I haven't talked to her in so long, but when we run into each other we try to catch up, we try to cram a year's worth of heartache and triumph into 10 minutes sobbing on each other's shoulder in the grocery store... which is funny and pitiful at the same time... '
I did manage to at least get the deck cleaned off, and the garbage mess cleaned up around the back yard, so when I look out my kitchen window, I don't have to cringe... Franki helped a lot, carrying things back to the burning pile, and picking up garbage.
Husband didn't do anything, but he was coming off of a double at work, so we will cut him a small Saturday break. But today is Sunday... The Lord's day. The Lord's, and mine...
