As a special treat for a dear friend of mine on DS who is really having a difficult time of it, I thought I'd share some 'isms' I came across earlier today. I was looking for a book that I required when I stumbled across one that I wasn't even aware that I owned. It was likely a stocking stuffer that I'd received many years back and immediately put away...'The wit and wisdom of Forrest Gump' by Winston Groom. I was taken by the simplicity, and by its underlining expression of hope and humor all blended together to inspire, make us laugh, and teach us a few things as well.I've always believed humor to be was especially therapeutic. Laughing from the gut, even when we have to force ourselves can help speed up recovery during times of despair, by increasing our endorphins, and lightening our mood. Somewhat easier said than done when a chemical balance is in play, so I don't want anybody to interpret that this is the answer to all that ails us. I'm merely trying to cheer up a good friend and in turn share a theory that I personally find helpful. So here are some of Forrest's 'isms'. I hope you appreciate his words as much as I did, and that they PUT A SMILE BACK on my friend's face...1. If you can't sing well, sing loud.2. Keep your bullshit detector in good working order.3. If you go to the zoo always bring somethin' to feed the animals - even if the sign says "Do Not Feed Animals" - it wasn't the animals that put the signs up. 4. When you think you are so low you gotta look up to look down, beat yourself hard on the foot with a stick for a while. At least you will feel better when you stop. 5. Remember this: while someone is down there kissin' your butt, they could just as easily be bitin' it too.6. If someone says you have a problem with ignorance and apathy, just say, " I don't know, and I don't give a shit".7. Do not sweat the small stuff, for that matter do not sweat at all, it will save you money on deodorant.8. If you see a guy beatin' his dog, whip his ass on the spot. 9. Your chances of winnin' the lottery get a lot better if you buy a ticket.10. Life must have been a lot simpler when the Indians ran the country.11. Never wear a belt and suspenders at the same time: people might think you are paranoid.12. Always be able to look back and say, "At least I didn't live a humdrum life".So there you have it, some words of wisdom from Forrest Gump. I hope I was able to lighten up my friend's mood through his words. I love her and wish her well...Peaceful Dreams My Dear(s),Roscoe xox As a special treat for a dear friend of mine on DS who is really having a difficult time of it, I thought I'd share some 'isms' I came across earlier today. Can you laugh with teary eyes? or did I laugh so hard that I had teary eyes? Anyhow. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I laughed and I feel much better. Having friends like you makes me realized of how fortunate I am, and I feel a bit selfish for feeling this low, but I also know that I have a condition, that I do not use as a shield, but it\'s a reality. Thank you for walking this path with me. Many people only want to be parat of my life when thigs are smooth. I love you for who you are and for who I am since you came into my life.
Love ya,
your sis!
