So how pro-active and open can we be in terms of coming out about our mental illnesses? And why is there such shame involved in just admitting what's so. Man!... I can't tell you how much that infuriates me.

To have my best friend, recently informed, look at me Like I am about to go off in a demented tangent, was a bit too much to handle!. Fuck that! Sometimes it just isn't worth the effort to disclose too much. Some people can't see the forest for the friggin trees...

But, it is our responsibility to get through to these people...It is a friggin chemical imbalance. No more, no less. Not much different than Diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, blah , blah ,blah....In other words, WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT.

Having him look at me, like I'm a potential psycho.....(?!).... NOT one of my my favorite days

Sweetheart,
I am sorry you are feeling this way, but you are entitled to your feelings. They are yours and in order to feel better you must live them, embrace them, process them, and then reject those that are hurtful and stayed with those that will help accomplish balance. There are many fallacies about being bipolar, one of them is that we do not have long relationships. The true is that we are the best of friends because we tend not to judge, but deep inside we expect the same in return. It\'s only fair, but it doesn\'t happened like that.
The pain and sorrow we experience when we see a loved one\'s eyes full of fear, discontent or sad is a killer for us. I cannot tell you how many times, I have felt the same way you feel now. I wrote something a while back it\'s called \"Alone.... alone would be better\" I even took it to my therapist and we analized it, that\'s exactly how I feel when I see my Mom, Martin or anyone that I love looking at me like if I am a fucking sociopath.
Babe, I will shut up now!
You know where to find me.
I love you.
Please, be gentle to yourself.
Much love to you,
Claudia

Hey-
A TRUE friend will be there. ALWAYS. They may not always understand, they may disagree, but they should never make you feel inferior. If the friendship is worth it, you could certainly suggest to them that the expression on your face makes me feel like you do not understand how I feel or what I am going through. Their reaction after that will probably tell you where it will go from there.

I don\'t know how many \"friends\" I\'ve told about the bizarre things that happened during the course of my divorce, to learn later that it was a great gossip session for some, others just never talked to me after that.

I\'ve become somewhat guarded because of that (as you could probably tell in the beginning), but I believe you will learn to sense who you can feel comfortable in disclosing all verses disclosing some information.

Just my thoughts.

Disclosing some, rather than all, will probably prove to be the best way to deal with it. Slowly but surely I\'ll realize who I can REALLY talk to. I tend to jump right in. NOT always the best approach! Thanks for the good advice!!!
