LEVEL TWO SNOW EMERGENCY!      Thought you'd all like to know what this means in case you ever live in Cow Country and think, oh, it can't be that bad...  With a Level 2, you are allowed to drive on the roads (Level 3 is Emergency only).  Let me first assure you we made it out and back nice & safe & warm & dry if you don't count white knuckles and tummy tumbles... Ugh.  I can say that Guy is, by far, the very best driver I have EVER KNOWN and that's not just because I love him.  He really is very good.  Must be the Virgo in him that keeps him in control, calm, and collected on ice and snow...  Essentially, Level 2 means "we ain't touching these roads so you ain't goin anywheres..."      We made it the long way off the hill which involves many more back roads that didn't have a single tire track upon them.  I really wasn't even sure where the road was, but Guy did just fine.  Most importantly, we have the basic provisions for survival on the hill.  I was out of everything: butter, flour, sugar, veggies (yes, the former vegetarian with no veggies is a sad thing), dog food, dog bones (the pups were ready to declare mutiny on the farm), bird seed, popcorn, dried beans, oh, the list goes on...  And, let me not forget to mention, when we got home, Guy hooked up the blade to the tractor and plowed the snow so the driveway is again REALLY passable not just "Guy BaHaaa Put the Hammer Down" passable... LOL...      On more of a springtime note, all of the onions have germinated and are reaching for the light.  Eight days for full germination is a long time, but it's just been too cold in my house even with the indoor greenhouse.  What I really need to consider are heat mats for seed germination if I want better results.  But, if I made the investment, we'd have a warm February and March making them unneeded.  It's alright, I'm planting my the Moon and will start more onion seeds after the full moon, and I think I'm waiting for above ground crops until new moon (March 7).  If I don't wait, the tomatoes will be leggy and everything else will be root bound.  I starting seeds in styrofoam cups this time instead of my endless collection of saved pots that I usually wash each year.  I think the extra heat and insulation of the styrofoam cups helps with the heat factor.  We'll see how it goes, but so far so good.     Ok, I've got to get off of here and deal with my hairy monster children who feel neglected today.  You know, you'll have that when it is icy outside and MumTheBum already got her exercise shopping in 3 stores this morning.  They are neglected because we did not do our morning walk, and although I fully expected to walk them when we got home, the snow and ice did not permit it.  I've already tested my luck on ice this winter.  I really don't want a broken leg...
