The former vegetarian spent the better part of this day processing deer meat: rinsed, patted dry, wrapped with freezer paper, placed in freezer bags (extra protection) then into the freezer.  Of course, the first project was to clean out the freezer so that I had room so I have all kinds of goodies for the outside boyz for which they will be most appreciative.  I don't know why I never learn that leftovers need to be used before they are lost on the bottom of the freezer where they invariably become dog food.  Oh, well, the boyz will be eating good for the next week.  Luckily, it is expected to be cold this week so the freezer castoffs are on the back deck.I have only one task for tomorrow which is grinding the meat that is to be "hamburger".  I'm glad I took the time to trim it all up so that I don't have to do that task tomorrow.  The suet from that process is over the hill for the animals to enjoy--nothing goes to waste.  Although it is all an overwhelming task, I will be very happy to have all that wonderful lean deer meat over the next several months.I also plan to try jerky along with canned deer meat.  I'll just use some of the steaks that are now in the freezer; I'll just need to research recipes (any suggestions would be appreciated--I have emails out to family so I should get a few recipes).  I will finish the deer processing tomorrow so that I can begin my holiday decorating this week while Guy is North--imagine a week to myself to do my decorating!  Yeah!

Huge job but glad it is done except for deer-burger! And so glad the doggies get treats!
We are awaiting our first significant snow of the season! Ron and Beth are all excited to go skiing!

Have a good week my friend. hugs

I know the boys will be in doggy heaven with all those good leftovers. Do you add real ground beef to your deer ground meat? I know some people do.
