After a 24-hour period of time which seemed like an eternity, I am FINALLY back on the computer!  Yesterday, I was on the phone with Dell no fewer than 6 hours.  This morning, in one hour's time, Tony my hero at Dell had me up and running, everything updated, and ready to rock.  Yesterday, I completely formatted my computer (ugh) and reinstalled WindowsXP after just reinstalling did not work.  The first guy at Dell told me I had a spyware problem, the second gal honestly had no idea what she was doing, and out of frustration, I shut everything down last night at 6 p.m.It's so amazing to me that Tony was able to just get on my computer, download everything (drivers, AVG free anti-virus software), and get me running so quickly.  I really felt less intruded upon because my computer was completely erased--I would definitely do this again if I had the same problems.  Most amazing is that I luckily purchased my Dell in 2002 when they were offering free tech support for life!  Also lucky is that I didn't buy the base model so I have many ways to upgrade my computer less expensively than buying an entire new one.  I also learned so much from Tony, like I don't need the HughesNet software or the LInkSys software.  He says that using Internet Explorer is best because it is a Microsoft product which makes sense and it certainly works so much better.  I'm a happy camper!Ok, the only mistake I made was NOT saving my favorites so they are all gone--years of gardening websites, seed catalogs, newspapers, and other quick links will all have to be rebuilt.  But, as we often say on the farm, it was needing a good douching so I have to be happy about it.  That said, if anyone (especially Jen & GrammieP) has websites I must see, send them my way...  Rebuilding years of favorites along with installing MS Word and other software will keep me busy today!
