I just got in from picking a peck of peppers to pickle!!!  smiley-tongue-out.gif (Say that 10 times really fast, I dare you!).  Honestly, it has been a very buzy puppy day as I have a large crock of salsa cooking even as I type.  I really should be cutting up peppers to add to that, but I'll do when Ellen (DeGenerous) comes on at 4 p.m.--I love her and even watch repeats all summer.  I'll probably add the cumin, chili powder, and red pepper flakes then, too.  Next year, I'm growing hot peppers, something I've avoided thus far, but I'll just get some surgical gloves to wear when I clean them.  (I tend to do stupid things like rub my nose or eye when cooking...onion only makes me cry, but hot pepper juice would probably send me to the moon!!!

Today, I've actually had some aches and pains so I abused OTC advil by taking 3 instead of 2.  Don't worry, I also drank 16 ounces of water for my tummy.  Cleveland Clinic use to tell me that I was just taking the prescription dose that way anyway.  In fact, when I was on Betaseron, Dr. Kinkel (yes, his real name and he had a handlebar mustache with curly ends--I LOVED him) told me to take 2 aleves every night I took a shot.  Of course, all the doctors I love up and move on me.  (Dr. Kinkel went to head a neuro department in Boston--LA DE DAH!!!  Then, Dr. Hamza--my dr. of internal meds who was my family doctor--moved to Columbus to be in charge of some biggie department.  All I can say is WOOO HOOO for them both--kidding, they are both wonderful doctors and I wish them well.)  Needless to say, I'm in the market for a new family doctor and was interviewed yesterday by a doctors' group in Coshocton.  Tomorrow, I learn my fate!

Pups are laying around snoring right now... They are such tired little pup-turds...  We all walked down and got the mail, so I'm sure they need their beauty rest now.

One more thing, the bugs are finally easing up though I still need jeans and a long sleeve shirt that I've saturated with bug spray.  I also have to spray my hat, and I must say that it really STINKS!  Now that they are almost done, I've remembered the dryer sheet trick.  If you rub that on your skin, bugs stay away--shocking but it really does work!  I'll have to buy some these next time I shop--even if it will probably be too late...  Later, dahlings... xo Cj

I learned the dryer sheet trick in Greece...so cool. I keep one in a glass on my patio table ay night. I have also shoved herbs that have bloomed( basil, dill, mint, oregano, lavender, etc). in a jar w/ veg. oil and let it sit for a week or so. The infused oil works well too.Hot peppers are so much fun. They seem to grow faster than sweet. I have wintered them over, some for 2-4 years. Just cut them back and pot them up and bring them in. Wear gloves ( the ones that come w/ your special conditioner...LOL ) when prepping them.
