8 weeks post op

I am 8 weeks post op as of yesterday :) and feeling the best I've felt since being diagnosed with Graves.  I have to admit that I feel pretty darn normal but I get a reminder every now and then when I decide to eat foods out of my "norm".  I am learning that I haven't quite achieved normalcy and I may never be able to eat the same foods I could eat before every knowing I had Graves since now I'm so in tune with my body and how it reacts to certain foods.  I spent last week repainting my kitchen.... all by myself :).  Before my surgery, there wasn't a chance I could have done that. The county fair was in town last week and we decided to go on Friday.  It was awesome! I'd never in my life been to such a big and awesome fair with any and everything under the sun there.  There were so many rides, so much food, and so many things to see and do.  I wanted to eat everything in site and sample all the booths... but I didn't as I quickly got full after eating a hand dipped corndog, shared a bucket of fries with my hubby, and shared a bag of mini sugar cinnamon coated donuts with my oldest daughter... then topped all that off with a piece of chocolate/peanut butter fudge.... and still felt good after it all... OH! and had my first hot chocolate in over a year.  Then Saturday, we had BBQ and it was SO good... so yummy.... I had BBQ chicken that literally fell off the bone and melted in your mouth, baked beans that had just the right amount of BBQ sauce in it, and some homemade mac n cheese.... but I paid for it on Sunday night.... UGH! I had terrible terrible stomach pains and felt like a train hit me out of nowhere... I was so sick to my stomach and am still suffering today :( That's just a reminder that I need to slow down with my eating and do it in moderation.... I had my follow up with my endo today and my labs looked awesome.... I have been taking 88 mcg one day and alternating taking 95ish the next day.  How did I get 95 mcg? I cut a 50 mg synthroid into an 1/8 of a pill and took it with my 88 mcg.  The endo was impressed.  She switched me to taking 88 mcg, Monday thru Friday, and 100 mg on Saturday and Sunday and told me to stick to it for 2 months.  I see her again the first week of January.  She mentioned my lymph nodes in my neck and around my collarbone were swollen and said to follow up with my primary care doc which I will be on November 19.  She said it may be a cold or some drainage from allergies causing them to enlarge.  So, here are my labs:
Free T4: 1.3 (range 0.8-1.8)
Total T3: .68 (range 76-181)
TSH: 1.67
Her office does not test the Free T3 but my primary care doc does.  I know Total T3 can be affected by a diet high in protein.  I may ask to add cytomel to my synthroid to get my T3's to increase... for now, I'll wait :)
Overall, I feel pretty good and am very happy with the results of choosing a Total Thyroidectomy.  Now it's just a matter of "tweaking" til I find the right dose.  So far, so good.
