8 days

So it's been 8 days without alcohol, and I'm feeling good and strong. I passed a test on Sunday when my family got together for brunch, where they usually serve mimosas. I simply said "I'm going to stop drinking for awhile," and it was no big deal. I had wound myself up about it, worrying that I would seem like a party-pooper, or whatever, but it was NOTHING. They were FINE with it. And supportive. I also found that I eat a lot less when I don't drink, which I find interesting. As I said in a different post, I am finding myself with a LOT of time on my hands. Luckily I have many tasks and hobbies at my disposal - I just can't believe how much time I wasted. Alas. But, onward and upward.

I noticed that many, many posts reference God - and I'm pretty sure I'm an atheist, so it really just flips a switch off for me. I would much rather decide that I am in control, and that no one but me decides on my behavior. Because then, I also have the power to change.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on a beautiful Monday in June. I'm happy to be alive and have a clear head.

Congratulations on 8 days! Keep it going!

Yes in this day and age, most people ARE supportive when we say we have stopped drinking.

Yes, that's what I have been doing. Keeping myself very busy. For me anyway, It seems like there is always something to do around the house.

Good Luck
